Clyro Church in Wales Primary School
This is an unofficial website created by parents and friends of Clyro School to try and ensure its continued success into the future. We believe that the guiding principles of an excellent education are the creation of a safe, happy and nurturing learning environment for pupils whilst challenging them to realise their full potential. The teachers and staff of Clyro School work hard to achieve this goal and to place the school in the heart of our community. It is our belief that outstanding teaching in a community setting is more important to our children's education than a newly built large school. It is also cheaper for the taxpayer with current costs per pupil being sustainable and comparable to pupils in much larger schools.
Please sign our Petition
As part of the Schools Modernisation Programme, Powys County Council is proposing to close between 6 and 8 of the primary schools in the Gwernyfed Cluster. This means that Clyro Church in Wales Primary School is under serious threat of closure, despite its popularity, academic results and financial viability.
Please sign the attached petition to urge Mr David Jones and his fellow councillors to keep this thriving, happy, community school open.
Through this petition, we are telling Mr Jeremy Patterson, the Chief Executive of Powys County Council to listen to the community of Clyro and it's surrounding area and put a stop to any proposals or plans to close our much loved rural primary school, as we are vehemently opposed to them. PLEASE ENTER YOUR NAME ONTO THIS PETITION SO THAT IT CAN BE HANDED INTO POWYS COUNTY COUNCIL.
